Yeah, that's right, I got a new two wheeled ride to roll with Rob and the harley crowd!  haha

Okie, so it may not have the style, but it is 150 MPG!  thumbsup sweat

Pick up the beauty at the BX, then my 66CC's of pure two stroke fury arrived via UPS today. The wrench turning will begin in the am!

Should look sorta like this:

yup, coaster brake on that puppy. It was cheap, only $89. Then I spotted a nicer one at the NEX today, but it was $170! I will try this one first, see how it rides ;-)

Lors of great info here:
http://motorbicycling.com/f30/bicycle-motor-preperation-care-354.html

The kit was $119 from gasbike, net, I tried using ship to hawaii, but that is a CA address, and they can not ship to CA. So shipping was like $55 IIRC. Took less than a week though.

I am 'possibly' going to try and put some of these together to sell on the base, see how this one goes. There is a lot of interest at work!

I did see that craigslist ad too!

Spent today getting it all installed. As is typical, this is not a "bolt-on" kit. Some tweaks were required! You prob need at least a dremel tool and a drill to do this installation.

My first problem was installing the drive sprocket on the rim. It was slightly too small to fit over the hub. A little work with the dremel fixed it up. Then the front motor mount was too narrow for the tube. They do include a plate to fix that problem, but it requires drilling a hole in the tube. Got the motor in, and then the drive chain hit the fender. I trimmed it back with the dremel and got it to work OK. The rest was pretty easy, it has a clutch lever and a throttle. The clutch had a catch to stay engaged while I pedal, then pop it. The throttle needed a hole drilled in the bars for a stud that keep its it from twisting. I had some two stroke gas, some filled it up and took it for s spin. At first, nothing, so I disconnected the kill switch, and it fired up! Took it apart, and there was a little short across the terminal from a shoddy solder job. Fixed that, and it was off for a ride! I hit 30 (I put a cheapie speedo on it already), and it was vibrating pretty good! 15-20 is pretty nice and comfortable. I am not sure if it will smooth out after it breaks in or not. I did put inner tubes on the engine mounts, might look at other options.

All told, it took me about 5 hours to get it together. Would be faster of course on the next one. I went back and tightened up a lot of loose bolts on the bike after the shake down. I think some locktite is in order. The kit was a nice kit with some upgrades (toolkit, spare plug, ny-lock nuts) and seems to be well worth it. The forums say there are a few upgrades that are worthwhile, like better fuel line, plug, etc, will look into that.

I want to add some better mirrors. There is a 6 volt lead off the engine, so I could run a light from that. It will be a great base commuter for sure! I took it on  a little shakedown ride, and got a lot of stares and thumbs up!

My question for tommy and Jerry is can I ride this thing off base? I know scooters are considered motorized bikes, so this is legit right? I will wear a helmet, and prob a safety vest on base too for the base cops. I plan on adding lights and better mirrors soon. 100 MPG + should be great!

50cc and above requires a class 2 licence. If you wanna ride it on the street, you'll need lights, mirrors, blinkers, etc, etc. I'm probably missing alot more but thats to the best of my knowledge  Smiley

Got the license! ;-) ordered more lights today. I read the moped laws, it is gonna be sorta tough..mopeds are autotrans only, this has a clutch. They also require brakes on both wheels, I just have one Sad There is some legislation to treat the e-bikes as bicycles, but as of now they are illegal too. I think on base, I 'might' be legal, will have to check lol.
