Got the El Camino started today.  Had issues with the regulator to carb braided hoses, they were new, but old, and they both leaked.  I ended up bending some hard lines for it.  They come off easily, so pulling a bowl for jet changes are not a problem.  After I got it sorted out, I fired it up and broke in the cam, then set the carb idle mixture and timing.  Runs pretty sweet.   thumbsup

Thanks guys!  It has brakes now too.  Just need to go over all the suspension bolts, tighten everything down good, cotter pins, etc., weld in my bucket seat brackets, and get a parking brake setup going.  Should be real soon I can drive it, even though I still need an interior.

I was able to turn the car around today.  Took it up the street and back.  Had to make some room for the front tires at full lock, they were touching the inner fenders at the outside back due to the offset of the wheels.  No problems now though.  The Detroit Locker is a bit noisy right now, I have 75-90w oil in the rear, might switch to 90-140w to quiet it down if it doesn't do so on it's own.  Runs good, though, for the little bit I did do.  thumbsup

Ran around the block 3 or 4 times tonight.  Neighbors are not amused.  Grin  Got my insurance card today, takin' it down to Recon Thursday morning, 8a.m. appointment to have them check it out.  Going to try to make it to Scotty's tomorrow for an alignment first.  I used my Fastrax alignment gauge and got it dialed in fairly decent, but needs the fine tune on the rack.  I also got to thinking about the stiff Detroit Locker that's makin' all the noise.  I bought it off Ebay slightly used by a Winston Cup team, who ran it a couple races, then went through it before selling it.  I'm thinking it has the yellow "hard" springs in it for max traction, so I bought a set of soft, black springs for it, to quiet it down a bit.  I'll probably pull the 3rd member next week, install them.

Considering how long Darren has been stashing parts for this build... WC is appropriate in the time frame!
